Enforcement Point Consistency

Published 2026-09-05

Enforcement point consistency means every place a policy is actually enforced — across different platforms, different services, different infrastructure — applies the same underlying decision logic to the same request, rather than each enforcement point implementing its own slightly different interpretation of the policy. Without this, the same logical request can receive different answers purely because of which platform or service happened to handle it, which undermines the premise that there's one coherent policy governing the system at all.

This is the practical target policy portability is aiming at: not just that the same policy can technically be expressed on multiple platforms, but that doing so actually produces the same decision everywhere it's enforced, verified deliberately rather than assumed from the fact that each platform claims to implement the same rules.
